STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics

What is the HSI STEM PASS GO Program? The HSI STEM PASS GO Grant was awarded to San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) by the U.S. Department of Education to provide support mechanisms that are intended to enhance success, completion, graduation and transfer rates of Hispanic students, low-income students and underrepresented students in the STEM discipline. Careers in STEM are currently in high demand and will continue to be over the next decades.This grant will support SBVC efforts to prepare students for education/employment in STEM fields. The San Bernardino Valley College family has an opportunity to provide resources to students that will enhance their STEM success.  Among these opportunities is a partnership with California State University of San Bernardino to provide a clear and easy transfer process to a four-year institution. This partnership will allow STEM students to complete their STEM education in their journey to enter a rewarding STEM workforce.

Who is eligible for the STEM Program?

All students in STEM majors or who are interested in becoming a STEM major.

What does the STEM Program offer?  The STEM Program provides STEM students with text book vouchers; free tutoring and Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions are also provided throughout the academic year to help students develop successful study skill habits. STEM students receive academic support through counselors specialized in STEM to help set educational goals. The STEM Counselors can assist with career exploration including personality/career interest assessments, college application workshops, resume/cover letter writing, soft skills education, scholarships and internships.  Additionally, students will participate in STEM activities, events and field trips intended to support and encourage students to persist in their chosen STEM majors.      Find out how to become a STEM student!
